The Heartland Community Ledger was created to make local news and public information easier to find, understand, and use.
I started the Ledger because important decisions affecting our communities can be difficult to follow unless you have the time, experience, and knowledge to know where to look. Local government documents, election information, public notices, and community updates should not feel inaccessible to the people they affect.
My background includes more than seven years in the Yankton County Auditor’s Office, where I worked with elections, voter registration, commission records, public documents, county finances, and other areas of local government. That experience taught me how government processes work—and how easily important details can be overlooked or misunderstood.
The Ledger will cover local government, community issues, local businesses, events, and the people who make our area what it is. Over time, it will also grow into a practical resource center for public documents, election and campaign information, and local connections.
The Heartland Community Ledger is starting small and will grow over time. Not every feature, resource, or area of coverage I have planned will be available right away. I am building this independently, one article and one resource at a time, with the goal of creating something useful, reliable, and lasting for our communities.
My goal is not to tell readers what to think. It is to provide clear information, meaningful context, and the details people need to form their own opinions.
